I consider this to be one of his best projects to come from this area in a long time. It doesn’t follow the trendy down south style of most artist today I would classify it as grown folks music. Staying true to form based in the ATL. He frequently lets you know that South Carolina is truly home. The song (Move Out The Way) is a club banger and (Custom Fitted) is infectious with an old school vibe you can’t help but love. (Top Back) is definitely riding music and (Hustlin Boy) is how the whole south feels at sometime in your life. I give this CD a 95 based on the fact that it is truly a refreshing change of pace and is for the grown at heart. Catch Malachi at www.hustlinboy.com

Orangeburg, South Carolina
Hot Single: “Crank Dat Roy”

What made you decide to create a song titled ‘Crank Dat Roy”?
I’m from the burg (Orangeburg for those who don’t know) and where I’m from a few people were doing this dance that was started by Elroy himself.

Who is Elroy?
Elroy is a guy who is always at the gas station. If u been to a gas station in the burg you probably seen him and didn’t even know it. I teamed up with State House Records and I made a song for the dance and the burg loved it and showed mad support so I pushed it hard. I called it “Crank Dat Roy” because it’s all about dancing in music right now and I felt with the city and State behind me, we can expose South Carolina and the talented artists we have.

How were you able to get the song recognized?
Just putting in a lot of work and no sleep. You have to want this and you have to do everything possible to help your dreams come to reality. I’m talking about hitting up different cities in the state every day, networking and just being an approachable person. Most importantly, you also got to have a great team of people. Shout out to: Mo aka “The Peoples CEO” is the captain and he knows how to build a great team.

How long were you signed to State House Records?
People still don’t believe me when I say less than a year.  I want to say about 8 months, that’s how good the label is at breaking new talent. I met Mo on a Tuesday, recorded the song that night and put it out on the street that next day and I’ve been grinding smarter since.

How does it feel to get such a tremendous response from this song?
It’s a blessing that people accepting me and my music this way.  I love what I do and its better when everybody loves it too. I just want to thank the fans first for the support on the streets, the DJ’s for playing my record and my family for being there.

Do you think this is the song that would provide more spotlight on South Carolina?
I really do feel like this is what the entire state of South Carolina was waiting for. A record to bring exposure to the state.  This is the one that’s going to open doors for a lot of people; as long as the state backs me up, I’m going to keep working for you South Carolina; this is only the beginning of many great things to come out of South Carolina.

What is next for JQ?
Currently I’m working on my album which is coming soon; I’m also promoting my other single “Church Boy” produced by the Krown Holdaz (crazy producers for the label, your going to be hearing a lot from them).

What final words would you like to leave my readers?
